Stephen Ministers are Here for You During the Holidays

Kim Murdoch, one of our Stephen Minister Leaders, recently shared this message to remind us that the holidays and the following winter months of January and February are not always cheerful and warm times for everyone and that our Stephen Ministers are available to help.

IT IS HERE…

It looks a little different for everyone:

It can be the Hallmark holiday where all the food is prepared displayed on the table surrounded by folks dressed in formal dresses, high heels, jacket and ties etc.  The children are dressed in holiday garb, every hair in place and they sit quietly, admiring the holiday décor.

It can be more like my holiday.  The food is prepared, all are well fed, but it has a more post tornado-look to my home.

All kidding aside, there are those whose hearts become very heavy at this time of year.  Perhaps they associate this time with loss, loneliness, anxiousness, grieving, or in some cases anger.  They may have poor physical health, mental health, and/or spiritual health.

You may be that person or know of someone needing a Stephen minister to walk with them through this difficult time.

Let us share our gifts.  We have been trained to provide Christ-Centered, CONFIDENTIAL caregiving.  We are here to listen.  We are help you find a little Jesus in your life and grow in his care and strength.  We are willing to commit an hour a week to YOU.

If you have questions about a Stephen minister please ask Jim Segovis, Kim Murdoch, Sherry Dickinson, Donna Martel, Renee Melaragno, Scott Frasier or Mary Jane Hartley. If you do not have contact info for any of these individuals, please reach out to the parish office and ask that a message be relayed to them.

God bless you. I wish you a happy and healthy holiday season!

Trinity North Scituate was the first parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island to establish a Stephen Ministry program. Stephen Ministers are lay congregation members trained to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation. Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life, but they all share a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.
