Thrift Shop

Welcome to The Thrift Shop! As part of our Outreach Ministries, we serve our community by making gently used and new clothing available at a very affordable prices. Our shop is a gorgeous, purpose-built space on the church campus that we share with the Food Pantry and Trinity’s Sunday School program.

We’re easy to find at 249 Danielson Pike, just past the fire station from picturesque North Scituate Village. We have ample parking in our main lot and auxillary lot across the street. The building is wheelchair accessible.

Hours
Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday 10am – 2pm

Donations
Donations are accepted only during regular Thrift Shop hours. Please do not leave donations outside the buildings, in the church, office, parish hall, or anywhere other than where indicated by a shopkeeper.
Please see our complete Donation Guidelines.

Our Products

Clothing and footwear are available in many sizes for infants, children, men and women. We also have jewelry and accessories to make an ensemble complete.

Also available are housewares, home decor, seasonal items, and much, much more. Items that we are unable to sell are donated to the homeless and others in need. Nearly all items in the store are priced at $20 or less.

Twice per year, at the end of the winter and summer seasons, we traditionally hold our popular “fill-a-bag” sale. Fill a paper grocery bag for one flat price. What a deal! We also periodically run other sales like Half-Price or Buy One, Get One Free and we often have a clearance rack. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for these events or subscribe to our mailing list.

The Thrift Shop is not only full of bargains, but fellowship, too. Many stop by to chat, have a cup of coffee in our new hospitality area, and stay in touch!

Our History

The Thrift Shop was started some years ago by Trinity’s Episcopal Church Women’s group (ECW), a very dedicated group of women who would volunteer to sort, price, organize and sell gently used items. It has operated out of several locations over the years, including most recently, a small storefront near Scituate Hardware.

Today, the Thrift Store is operated by a dedicated ministry team and lots of volunteers from our parish and the surrounding community who come together to do the important work of running the shop.

Volunteers

Volunteers are always welcome at the Thrift Shop and you do not need to be a member of the parish to volunteer. If you would like to help, please contact the Thrift Shop at thriftshop@trinitynorthscituate.org or ask a shopkeeper.

We also offer community service credit for serving in the shop, including for National Honor Society, Scouts, and other reasons. Please ask a shopkeeper for details or contact the parish office.

Alternative Donation Options

Unfortunately, due to our size and other circumstances, we cannot accept all types of items. Here are a list of organizations and locations where you may be able to donate items we do not accept.

Please Note: Some of these programs and stores are “for-profit commercial fundraisers” (FPCF). This means that they accept donations on behalf of a local nonprofit organization, then purchase the donations by the pound from the nonprofit and resell them for profit. Under this arrangement, both the non-profit and for-profit businesses benefit without the non-profit having to handle the donations.

  • Scituate Preservation Society – Each year, typically in April, the Scituate Preservation Society hosts a large yard sale at their headquarters, The North Scituate Grange. If you’re doing spring cleaning, we encourage you to donate items we don’t accept to this worthy cause.
  • Saver’s – With locations in Warwick, Providence, East Providence, and North Attleboro, Saver’s is a FPCF that typically partners with Big Brothers, Big Sisters in our area. They accept most items that we do not, including furniture, bulky items, books, and some audio/visual media.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of RI – BBBSRI has a number of traditional donation bins throughout the state. You can also schedule a pickup on dates when their trucks will be in your area.
  • St. Pauley’s Textile Sheds – St. Pauley’s donation sheds are a bit different from a typical donation bin. Host organizations have the opportunity to use donations for their own ministries (such as a thrift shop or clothing ministry). The remainder is purchased from the host organization by St. Pauley’s and re-sold or redistributed. In addition to clothing and soft goods, St. Pauley’s also accepts stuffed animals. There are two such sheds in our area – One at St. Thomas Episcopal Church and a second at Rockland Community Church.
