Snow Cones, Conversations, and Community

Trinity’s Outreach Team was back at the Scituate Rotary Farmers Market recently, spending a beautiful summer morning connecting with neighbors, sharing information about our ministries, and, for the first time, serving free snow cones from our newly acquired snow cone machine.

Each summer, Trinity participates in the Farmers Market as part of our commitment to being present in the community we serve. Rather than waiting for people to find us, we enjoy bringing a little bit of Trinity out into the community, meeting new friends, answering questions, and sharing information about our Food Pantry, Thrift Shop, and upcoming events.

The new snow cone machine was a big hit. Throughout the morning, our volunteers served more than 100 snow cones and had conversations with an estimated 200 market visitors. Children eagerly lined up for colorful frozen treats, while parents and community members stopped to learn more about all the things Trinity has to offer.

A special thank you goes to Addison and Owen, who generously gave their time to serve at the booth and keep the snow cones flowing all morning. Their enthusiasm and willingness to serve helped make the event welcoming and enjoyable for everyone who stopped by.

One of the most encouraging parts of the day was the generosity of the community. Although we offered snow cones completely free of charge, many visitors chose to support Trinity’s Food Pantry with donations. By the end of the morning, we had received $85 in contributions that will help provide food assistance to local individuals and families in need.

We were also grateful for the opportunity to speak with several people interested in donating food and learning more about the Food Pantry. Those conversations remind us that community outreach is about building relationships, sharing information, and creating opportunities for neighbors to support one another.

Thank you to the Scituate Rotary Farmers Market for welcoming us once again, and thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We look forward to seeing many of you again on September 12th when well be back. We also expect to be at the Scituate Fall Family Festival.
