Stewardship – This is a Good Place

The following thoughts were shared by Kim Murdock during our Sunday Holy Eucharist service on September 20th. Kim is a member of our Stephen Ministry, as well as other areas of ministry at Trinity.

Approximately 6 years ago I was in search for a different church.  This was during the pandemic and I started attending Trinity on Saturday evenings after work at Rhode Island Hospital.  The peace and beauty of that service was my rock during that difficult time.  I thought “this is a good place.”

I came to the Sunday service every other weekend.  Since music is a very important part of worship, I had the honor of joining the choir and meeting wonderful people.  I thought “this is a good place”.

I had a stroke about 5 years ago.  It was terrifying being on “receiving side” of medicine.  Rev. Johanna, whom it had met after services, called me while I was hospitalized.  She left a message stating that she is available for me and the church is praying for me.  No one will ever know what that call meant, after being “the strong one” for friends at work and my family.  I thought “this is a good place”.

A few years later I met with Rev. Johanna to discuss options for ministry.  I felt I was called for something…  Ironically, (but not really) she explained a new ministry formation and provided information for me review.  Stephen Ministry was an exact fit.  Again, another group of loving people.  I thought, “this is a good place.”

I love this church, its worship, and its people.  It has changed my life and is the key to my spirituality.  I pledge to the church because I feel it my responsibility to keep this good place alive and moving forward so others can experience God’s presence here and our family will continue to grow.
